The City’s recreation programs serve a wide array of recreational and leisure interests for all ages. Our main goal is to maintain and enhance a sense of belonging for all citizens by encouraging participation and ownership in the planning, development and implementation of our community’s recreation programs and services. Recreation, by definition, is administered to be affordable and offer opportunities for everyone to participate and preserve a sense of pride and community spirit.

The support and development of quality recreation programs is our motto. Recreation staff will encourage the values which recognize, strengthen and advance the diverse family relationships in the community to deliver quality programs and services. Additionally, your recreation department continues to promote and encourage a safe community program through well maintained recreation and sports facilities, parks and open spaces for your safety and comfort. The City of Fort Saskatchewan provides quality services, quality facilities, a friendly and helpful atmosphere that encourages involvement of all ages and we will endeavor to integrate isolated individuals and community groups into the recreation program. Our services include

  • Total Recreation Management Excellence 
  • Assessment of community and local organizational needs, consultation, facilitation, referrals, resources, evaluation, and planning services
  • Funding and grant application assistance
  • Liaise with Regional, Provincial and Federal Governments and Agencies
  • Facility program and business management
  • Facility bookings and rentals
  • Meet with facility user groups to deal with concerns and issues and prepare for the season
  • Assist with tournaments and recreational projects
  • Facilitate development, assistance and on-going support to local organizations in developing, operating, programming and maintaining facilities
  • Community recreation facility lease development, monitoring and review
  • Provide seasonal registered, drop-in & spontaneous programs for the enhancement of the community recreation, wellness and overall healthy lifestyles
  • Encourage leadership and skills development through well organized recreation programs for all ages
  • Providing safe and clean facilities where the community residents and the general public can enhance their health, fitness and wellness through various fitness services and incentives, by educated and certified staff
  • The aquatics program revolves around the Harbour Pool, a functional 6-lane leisure pool suitable for lessons, games, competitive swimming and recreational fun
  • Prevention is number one, with first aid and leadership skills kept current and prepared
  • Ensure the facility always reflects a high standard of cleanliness, focusing on a positive and supportive approach with customers & fellow staff
  • To assist with annual and occasional one time events and projects throughout the year
