Starting October 2008, the Grade 5 Program at the Fort Saskatchewan Museum and Historic Site will be a great new way to introduce students to history and make it come alive! The various hands-on activities will entice the students and make them curious about the past. They will be excited to learn more, to investigate the past, and to discover what the history of Fort Saskatchewan, their community, can teach them.
Students will develop knowledge, understanding and historical thinking on:
- The impact that the North West Mounted Police had on our identity and in the development of the West.
- The Kulak House and how European immigrants shaped the ways of life in Western Canada.
Curriculum:
To appeal to students, the Fort Saskatchewan Museum and Historic Site will teach students through fun and interactive programming. The Museum staff will endeavour to use children's natural curiosity to explore the history of our community.
