Sheep Grazing Program

We've Got Sheep Appeal

Sheep grazing in the middle of a city is not typical - but then again, neither is Fort Saskatchewan! You can see sheep herding in action with our expert shepherd and sheep dogs throughout the summer.

A flock of 40 graze on City lands, providing a "ewe"-nique approach to keeping grass and weeds down!

The public can visit our friendly flock Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. June 7 to September 1, 2008.

Where does our flock graze?
  • In the area next to Legacy park (99 AVE and 101 ST)
  • Behind the Fort Saskatchewan Museum and Historic Site (101 AVE and 101 ST)
  • Beside the Warden's House (Visitor Information Centre - 100 AVE and 101 ST)
  • In the River Valley Amphitheatre and down towards the river, or
  • At the Nordic Ski Centre (Agrium's greenbelt) on River Road from where the sheep are herded to Legacy Park every Thursday noon.
